Irish Ferries Freight offers an additional business management system in the form of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)

Our business management system, freightengine®, uses the latest technology to offer resource saving services via an EDI booking/amendment process. This method is designed to interface from your system directly to our freightengine® system without the need for expensive application alterations or changes to security policies.

Booking and amendment requests are transferred in flat file format to our secure server in Dublin using File Transfer Protocol (FTP). Acknowledgment files are made available for collection by FTP within seconds. These acknowledgment files can be imported directly into your system.

Transfer by email is also possible, but is subject to the vagaries of Internet mail communication. We can accommodate most standard file formats eg. XML or tab/comma delimited text etc. and can provide acknowledgment files in your preferred format. The turnaround is rapid - on receipt of a booking request an acknowledgment is usually generated within 60 seconds.
